IFEL on the Scene

In Boston: Jill Johnson and Stephanie Fowler Visit their Old Stomping Grounds

Jill Johnson, Co-Founder and CEO of IFEL, and Stephanie Fowler, President of Capital Access with IFEL revisited their alma mater during Harvard Black Alumni Weekend. They were met with old friends, good memories, and new opportunities to engage in the different communities they belong to.

On September 28-29, 2024 these two changemakers unsurprisingly attended the Global Changemakers Conference sponsored by the Harvard Black Alumni Society. IFEL hosted a Making of Black Angels session for conference attendees–broadening awareness of our angel inclusion work.

They had a blast! Boston was a little bit more cheerful with them there. Go Crimson!

In San Diego: Melanie Seymour Builds Bridges

IFEL’s presence at Stella’s annual Women’s Venture Summit would be incomplete without Melanie Seymour, Director of Capital Access at IFEL. This summit focused on building bridges between women founders and investors. Special thanks to the Impact Seat Foundation for extending the invitation to us.

“The Women’s Venture Summit was informative, impactful, and inspiring! I was impressed with the lineup and how accessible the speakers were. While the stats about investments in women are alarming, I left the summit feeling optimistic and supported, with actionable steps to move forward, says Melanie.

In Puerto Rico: Jill Johnson Shows that She Means Business

It was an exciting three days at the We Mean Business conference led by Sharon Jackson in Puerto Rico! In its third year, this was Jill’s first time attending and she most certainly will be back. The energy was electric! It’s clear that opportunities abound in Puerto Rico!

IFEL was excited to sit on a panel to share information about Angel and VC funding with three extraordinary women: Chief Operating Officer of the National Association of Investment Companies Carmen Ortiz McGhee; Serial Entrepreneur and Essence Shot Caller Lauren Maillian; and Entrepreneur, Author, Speaker and Coach Jeannie Marmol (moderator).

Jill got to reconnect with icon Gloria Feldt, who has been tirelessly working for women’s rights and freedoms for decades. She also met so many wonderful leaders who are having an impact globally. The highlight was speaking with amazing champions who shared insights about the benefits to investors and entrepreneurs of locating in Puerto Rico. Hay muchas oportunidades en Puerto Rico! (Blame Google Translate if this is incorrect).

In addition to great content, there were beautiful sunrises and gorgeous weather. Time was very well spent. IFEL looks forward to collaborating with Sharon and many of the attendees there.

IFEL extends the best of congratulations to Sharon on a thoughtful, informative event.
